The Kelowna Folk Club is a volunteer-run organization. To become a volunteer, please contact Linda Clark at 250-707-1080 or volunteer@kelownafolkclub.ca

Board Members are elected at the Annual General Meeting and throughout the year as needed to fill vacant positions. Board members set operating policies and run the largest of the club's functions: all operational duties from securing venues and insurance to booking artists. The bulk of the work is done by this group.

Volunteer Coordinators help to organize the specific areas of duty, and to coordinate volunteers. Coordinators keep in contact with the volunteers specific to their areas:

  • Site Crew: set-up and take-down of the audience seating area
  • Access Crew: selling/taking tickets at front door
  • Beverages: selling tickets for beer/wine as well as serving
  • Concession/Kitchen: helping sell concession items and cleaning up afterwards
  • Photos: taking photos during the evening, dependent also on artists' permission
  • Raffle: selling raffle tickets during evening
  • Stage Crew: setting up performing area the afternoon of the show, as well as take-down
  • Music & Merch: selling performer's merchandise, as well as that of the Folk Club
  • Poster Distribution: putting up posters prior to each concert
  • Hospitality: in charge of artists' needs during their stay in Kelowna

Volunteers help to carry out specific duties before, during, and after concerts.

Volunteers receive the following benefits in return for their hours of service:

  • Complimentary t-shirt
  • Free attendance at the concert they work at (see below for details)
  • Complimentary food and drink from the Concession (one of each; no alcohol)
  • Volunteer Appreciation concert at the end of the season

As per our constitution and bylaws, all volunteers are members of the Kelowna Folk Club Society. This membership is $1 and is valid for one year.

Volunteers in good standing (complete the assigned work, get along with others, represent our Club well) will be invited back to volunteer again.
